Windows installation instructions

TTraq setup is quite easy and full web driven. However to use the easy way, you have to download Java and an approbiate Web container, we use Tomcat for this in the following document (as always, we would like to hear if you have used successfully other containers). We highly encourage to follow our recommendation, you will be surprised how easily you can use a well constructed Web application even in your own network.

  1. Download and install the current Java SDK for your system:

    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

  2. Download and install Tomcat (valid versions 4.5 - 5.0, Tomcat 5.5 only runs with JDK 1.5 and higher):

    http://jakarta.apache.org/site/binindex.cgi

Tomcat ask you for an administrator password during installation, remark this for later installation of TTraq. There should be a system tray icon available after successfully installation of Tomcat, this will be vanished after restart of the computer. Use "Monitor Tomcat" in the start menu to recall. Make sure to start Tomcat and configure it to start automaticly.

Now open a web browser with following url:

http://localhost:8080/manager (the start page of tomcat can be found at: http://localhost:8080) enter the administration username and password from the installation here to access this page.

  3. Download and install TTraq:

Get your latest deployable version of TTraq  now. It  has to called something like  "ttraq.war".  The extension "war" means that this is a deployable web archive. (this is a standard zip archive file format). Save the file somewhere and go back to the Tomcat manager page. In the bottom there should be something like "upload local war archiv". Browse your hard drive and install your downloaded archive there.

Now there should be an entry like "ttraq" in the list of applications in the manager page. You can click the link to it now and you should be welcomed with the TTraq setup page.
